Where did the month go? Our Summer Reading Programs are coming to a close at the end of June. The last day that the grade school children keep track of time they spent reading will be June 30th. The Reading Time Slips are due back at the Library by 8 p.m. on July 3rd. We need these slips back in order for the child to qualify for prizes!
Since the 4th of July holiday falls on the day that we usually hold our Ending Picnic, we have moved the picnic to July 11th this year. K-4th grade children in the Reading Program are to bring a sack lunch with them. Drinks will be provided. Please come inside the library at 11:30 p.m. We will divide into different groups at this time and go outside to the park for games. After we eat, the prizes and awards will be handed out. If your child can not attend the picnic, we will save their prizes and they can be pick them up at a later date. We will dismiss at 1 p.m.
Our program theme of “Dream Big: Read” has been a fun topic to work with the kids. I hope that the children enjoyed it as much the library staff did! Learning about all the creatures that come out at night, our PJ party/bedtime program with the stuff animals doing a sleep over at the library, hearing about all the things that go bump in the night, and learning about the moon and stars was a blast.
