Library Foundation Continues with Library Improvements and Fundraising

The Ainsworth Library Foundation Board held its quarterly meeting on August 20th at the Public Library. President Kara Welch called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. Roll call showed six members present and one absent. Library Director was also present for the meeting. The minutes and the treasure’s reports were approved. There were no bills to pay at this time.

The Gift Transaction List from June to August 2015 was shared. Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Daniels gave a gift in memory of Mr. Chris Daniels. Mrs. Phyllis Thorne gave gifts in memory of the following people: Miss Bit Rein Painter, Mr. Fred Meyer, and Mrs. Phyllis Lane.  The Ainsworth Community Schools present a gift in memory of Mr. Stan Jacobsen by the Board of Education and the school staff. A book titled “Simple Applique” by Kim Diehl was received from the Nebraska State Quilt Guild. Other gifts were received from Mrs. Shirley West and Mr. Matthew Kulek.

Phase Two of Library improvements were discussed. It was noted that the front lobby and rest room area has been painted. Several members will be meeting to look at different title samples. Art work for the children’s area was approved and will be purchased. Library Board is currently working on the ADA check-out desk and the ADA automatic door opener.

Members spend time reviewing the Strategic Plan that has been sent to the Nebraska Library Commission and went over all the goals for the next three years.

Fundraising was discussed. It was decided to hold another Book Basket Auction in November.

The next meeting date was set for November 12th at 7 p.m.   Since there was no further business to come before the board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
