Roxi Reviews

Roxi Wilkinson has graciously agreed to share some of her recent reads with us. The following review is part of an ongoing series of guest posts written by Roxi:

Great book to read before, during, after any holiday!

The Ghost at the Table by Suzanne Berne grabbed me from the first sentence,  “Going home for Thanksgiving wasn’t something I had planned on…”  I HAD to find out why the narrator, Cynthia, is dragging her feet at the thought of celebrating with her sister, Francis.  After all, Cynthia will only be there a few days.  What can happen in such a short amount of time that would keep sisters apart for years?  This creative take on the definition of family, and the dynamics we all encounter at some point in our lives offers a bountiful feast for pondering.  The age old question is asked in a fresh way:  What are the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, the stories we tell others?  This page-turning little book will surprise you with it’s take.  How will this conscience raising affect my winter holiday season?  I can only reply; I know it will.
