First Lego League

LEGO Club is open to students in kindergarten through 8th grade. We meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Community Rooms at the library. The library provides LEGO building bricks, WeDo 2.0 software and motors, so children can learn to design, build, and program simple machines that run via Bluetooth.

Children can come just to build with LEGOs or they can choose to join a team and participate in competitions at the library. For each competition, children will research a real-world problem, build a LEGO model, create a poster explaining their research, and present the model and poster to the public and judge(s).

Our first competition will be Friday, Feb. 17. Set up begins at 2:30 p.m. and judging will be at 4 p.m. The public is invited to come and view the children’s LEGO models and posters. They have researched honeybees, their habitats, challenges they face, and one other animal that lives in the same habitat.

LEGO Club will not meet on these days:

  • Thursday, Mar. 2
  • Thurs. Mar. 16
