We currently have two Cricut machines available for use in our Maker Space. The library provides the machines, basic cutting blades, cartridges, and/or a computer with Cricut Design Space software. Patrons must supply their own cutting mats, paper, and other accessories as needed. Cricut supplies may be purchased locally at Steph’s Studio (located at 210 Box Butte) or at other various retailers nationwide.
The Cricut Expression machine offers a number of designs for your projects without requiring the use of a computer program. You can bring in your own cartridge or use one of the many cartridges available in our collection. Cricut cartridges are available for in-library use only.
The Cricut Maker machine is the most versatile of the Cricut family and is able to cut a variety of materials, including fabric, basswood, vinyl, leather and much more. It can cut, emboss, perforate, score, and deboss. We currently have two cutting blades available for use: a premium fine point blade and a rotary blade for cutting fabric. Patrons are able to supply their own alternative blades for use in special projects.
The Cricut Maker offers more flexibility during the design process, and does not utilize cartridges. Instead, designs are sent to the machine using Cricut Design Space software. This software features many free, ready-to-cut projects while also allowing makers the ability to create and execute their own designs.
Cricut Design Space is available via laptop for patron use. Patron’s will need to login to a personal account by creating a free Cricut ID. Personal devices may be used in conjunction with the library Cricut Maker by connecting the two via USB or bluetooth. The Design Space app is available as a free download on PCs, MACs, and most mobile devices.
