You can count the pages you’ve been reading since the beginning of summer. I just need a parents signature with the pages read. There will be three categories: pre-K-2th, 3th-5th, and 6th-8th. If teenagers older than 8th grade are interesting in a reading contest, just let me know. The last day you can bring in pages read will be the 12th of July. The 15th of July I’ll announce the winners, give out prizes, and have water games for all ages to enjoy.

Arthur Library has just became a partner in Overdrive, a free online library. Some of you may know what this is already, but for those of you that don’t, it is a colaboration of libraries that provide e-books for their patrons with no charge. E-books are books that you can read or listen to electronically. You are going to need three things to read/listen to e-books. First, you’ll need a type of electronic device such as, smart phones, computers, laptops, tablets, etc. Second, you’ll need internet access(you will actually be downloading the book to your electronic device, so you’ll only need internet access when you are actually downloading the book or looking at the website). Third, you’ll need software. This will be easiest if you come in and I can help you with this part. If you’re a little more independent and feel you know what you’re doing you’ll just need your username and password to start. The website you will be going to is http://nebraska.lib.overdrive.com . I’m going to try and add this link to our website. You can go ahead and call me to get your<var></var> information. I’m at the library from 2-5 p.m. Mon. thru Fri., but if this doesn’t work for you, you can just call me at 308-289-5574. We are still working out all of the kinks and aren’t actually going live until November 16, 2012, so please bare with me as I am learning this as I go also. It’s a very exciting new feature for our library, especially for those of you who have difficulty getting to the library, and I hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions at all you can either come see me or just give me a call.
