Magician Keith West, and Miss Kitty the Library Lady were at the Atkinson Public Library on Tuesday, June 23 for our Story Hour Finale. The magic and mind boggling illusions had everyone scratching their heads in wonder! Quite a few of the children volunteered to help Mr. West with his presentation, and afterwards, lunch was provided for 74 children and 22 adults. It was the perfect end to Story Hour, but the Summer Reading Program continues through the end of July – so keep reading! Remember what Mr. West said, “Come to the library twice a week, and check out three books each time, and do it for the whole summer!”
This past week also wrapped up the Summer Book Club for those reading the Golden Sower Nominee book “Darling: Mercy Dog of World War I” by Alison Hart. We had fifteen 3rd-4th graders, and fourteen 5th-7th graders come to discuss the final chapters of the book. Dog tags were made, poppies were handed out and discussed, and lunch was provided! It was great to see so many children at all of the sessions – we hope you continue to read all summer long! Thank you to Sarah Vogel, Kim Fredrick, and Beth Laible for leading the final discussion groups – you did a great job and we really appreciate it!
