Holiday program and Open House a Big Success!

15 December 2013

On December 14, the library was open for a Holiday Program. The Broadwater Museum was also open.

18 children attended this, as did many adults. Plates of cookies, cider, water, and coffee were available. Abundant candy-canes were found nearly everywhere. The museum offered gingerbread treats. Bags of goodies were given to all children. Puzzles were given away in a coloring contest.

Santa made his appearance along with one of his elves. Children got to sit on Santa’s lap,  talk about what they wanted for Christmas, and have their picture taken with Santa. Some adults even told Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Santa gave away apples and oranges to those who came to talk to him. Santa and his camera-weilding elf went to visit a nearby shut-in, who was delighted to have Santa in her home for the first time in 25 years!

Holiday cartoons were seen before Santa’s arrival, and after his departure.

Thanks to all who made this a success. This includes Sue Nussbaum, The Star Street Diner, The Bridgeport News-Blade, Jeff Baird, Darlene Loomis, Carrie Wiggins, Andrew Leisy, Tom and Ben Goding, Susan Kelly, Brandi Livingston, James Kulacz, Rex Leisy, and many others for their help or donations in making The First Annual Broadwater Winter Open-House a success.
