Next Tuesday is the day! We will meet at 6:30 in the community room!
see you then…
Set your calendar to participate in the first Brunswick all community book discussion. We are reading Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson. This award winning book takes readers to the Japanese interment camps of WWII, an island in Puget Sound and the scene of a suspiciously drowned Japanese American.
The movie will be shown and there will be snacks.
Books are available at the library.
Just to let you know…
This winter we participated in or sponsored, 2 bake sales, a biscuit and gravy breakfast, 4 movies nights for families, 4 game nights for families and 2 community book discussions with movies. It seemed like a lot while we were doing it.
The Brunswick received three grants. An Internship grant will allow Heather Kringle and Aleisha Pellatz to work in the library this summer and process the collection. A LSTA grant will enable the library to begin the automation process. We will receive an new computer and barcode scanner and a subscription to CatExpress in order to download all the book records so they can be put online next year. We recently heard that we received a grant from the Pilcrow Foundation that will enable the library to purchase 70 new children’s books.
We will be partnering with the Antelope County Extension agency to help with our Summer Reading programs. This is exciting stuff!
Sadly, Brunswick has lost two of our long time supporters this winter. With memorials from the Library Foundation we have been able to update our bulletin board. It is now the Sharon Rumsey memorial bulletin board. We have purchased an new table and chairs for the library in memory of Joan Masat, Joan was the librarian for 17 years. Books are also being purchased in her name.
Story Time is held the first and third Saturday of the month. Next Story Time will be November 7 at 9:30. It will be very huggable! Please come.
