Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small & Rural Libraries

One of my favorite quotes is “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.” I am happy to announce that it “only” took two tries to be selected to receive a Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC): Focus on Small and Rural Libraries grant!

The American Library Association (ALA) has announced 517 libraries to receive grants through Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small & Rural Libraries. These public, academic, school and tribal libraries represent 48 U.S. states and Butler Memorial Library made the list! Our library applied for grant funds to be used to update our nonfiction collection. We will discuss with local Homeschool families to see what books are needed. We have also noted other nonfiction books that have been requested from patrons with kids that had to stay home due to Covid-19 quarantining. Our children’s nonfiction collection has recently been updated but our middle school to adult nonfiction section has not. We are hoping with this grant funding and discussion with homeschool families we will be able to update our nonfiction section to provide resources for homeschool families and public school families searching for additional resource materials.
