“This project was supported in part by the Department of Commerce, National Telecommunications and

Information Administration (NTIA), Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), funded by

the American Recovery and Reinvestment ACT (ARRA), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, as

administered by the Nebraska Library Commission.”

The library is serving as one of the web video recording locations for “2012 Campaign Connection Voter Voices”.  A unique election year project of NET News (Nebraska Public Television & Radio), in partnership with the NE Library Commission.  NET News is gathering your thoughts, perspectives and questions to share with the U.S. Senate candidates (and the rest of Nebraska) on television, radio, web and social media.  Be sure to stop by to record your video!  It’s really easy to do. 🙂

“CRICUT EXPRESSION” MACHINE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC USE!

The library has recently purchased a “Cricut Expresson” electronic cutter that is available for library patrons to use.  This easy-to-use machine makes it a snap to make things like:  cards, displays, scrapbook pages, signs, and labels.  It can accommodate materials from cardstock to paper to vinyl.  The library will have a variety of cartridges available (each cartridge has many designs on it).  You may bring in your own materials with you to cut.  Or, the library will have some decorative sheets of paper available for you to purchase.  Please be sure to give us a call if you have any questions (946-2512). 🙂

Last Session for Weekly “Computer Fun Class” to be Wed. Febr. 29th

The last session for the “Weekly Computer Fun Class” will be held on  Wednesday, February 29th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in the library meeting room.

The topic for this class will be “eReaders”.

Anyone is welcome to attend this free class.   Be sure to bring your eReader along with and your laptop (if necessary for downloading with the type of eReader you have).

We will be available to answer questions about how the “Nebraska Overdrive” system works.  This system allows library patrons to checkout eBooks and audiobooks, using their eReaders.

This class is also for people who do not have eReaders yet, but are curious about how they work.  The library currently has two eReaders available for checkout, that are preloaded with books from many different genres.  We will have those available, for patrons to use.  We look forward to seeing you there!  🙂

Penguin eBooks

As of February 10, 2012 eBooks that are published by Penguin (loaned for reading on Kindle devices) will need to be downloaded to a computer and then transferred to the device over USB.

For library patrons, this means Penguin eBooks borrowed through the library Overdrive subscription will no longer be available for over-the-air (wireless) delivery to Kindle devices or to Kindle apps.  Here is a link with some helpful instructions: http://www.amazon.com/kindletransfer  🙂
