Central City Public Library Receives Library Journal’s Five Star Designation for 6th Consecutive Time!

2013Starlibraries

For the 6th consecutive time, Central City Public Library has received a FIVE STAR rating in Library Journal’s Index of Public Library Service 2013!  Five stars is the highest rating that a library can receive. 7,573 libraries across the U.S. were evaluated.  The LJ Index gives an overall indication of how libraries stack up to their peers nationally.  The ranking is based on the quantities of services the libraries deliver based on: per capita stats for library visits, circulation, program attendance and public internet use. Our library ranked 4th in the nation for our expenditure category. In that category, only 10 of the libraries were five star libraries.

Pumpkin Pie Baking Class

Pumpkin Pie Baking Class

National Pie Baking Contest Grand Champion and owner of Blue Ribbon Pie Company, Phyllis Bartholomew, taught a group how to make her “Pumpkin Pie with Pecan Topping” recipe.  At the end of the session, everyone was able to take their fabulous looking (and fabulous tasting) pies home.  Phyllis shared many great tips and other recipes, while the baking was being done.  Her “Chocolate Meringue” pie class may be offered soon. Watch for more information to follow. 🙂
