Archive for June, 2012
What an exciting month this has been for the Culbertson Library. We started our summer story hour and reading program every Wednesday the month of June. The kids were fantastic, we had a group of 12 the first Wednesday of the month and by the 4th Wednesday we had 17 children and several parents that volunteered, stayed and helped the children. I must say we had a lot of fun getting to know everyone. Each of the kids had a reading assignment every week and they did wonderfully. They were able to put their name in for a drawing of a book at the end of our summer session and I don’t think anyone went away disappointed.
We are looking forward to celebrating the July 4th holiday with our community. We are going to have a float this year as kind of a last minute decision, but the kids seem excited about the idea at this time. We will wait and see with this terrible heat we have all been having, how they feel afterwards. We will be handing out fliers as well as some candy to help promote donations toward the construction of hopefully our new library. We are still hoping for a summer 2013 start.
We also have a new facebook page I am hoping all of you will check on us from time to time. Is a little easier to access and so much fun to look at the kids photo’s.
A little later this month July 18-22 we will have a booth at the Ag building Culbertson fairgrounds.
Till next month you all have a safe and wonderful holiday! We will all keep praying for rain!
First, congratulations to Arianna Pierson for winning the May National Book Month Drawing for a new book! She won The Great Fuzz Frenzy by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel.
Our library also celebrated May as National Bike Safety Month. We did a display with a youth bicycle and safety instructions so all of our young visitors could review safe bike practices.
Our library board and staff have been enjoying some continuting education videos provided by the National Library Commission.
We have purchased a mulitmedia center which will allow our patrons to download pictures, information, etc. from any storage device (memory cards, cds, etc.).
The Culbertson Public Library now has a foundation under the umbrella for the Culbertson Improvement Project Committee and it is tax exempt for anyone wishing to donate. Anyone wishing to contribute or learn more information may contact Connie Barger at (308) 278-2669.
