On Wednesday during Vetch Days, Elgin Public Library hosted a Puzzle Contest for Junior High and High School students. Unfortunately, we had only one team sign up. That was not going to stop us from having the contest. So we decided we would ask two of the winners from last year’s adult contest to compete against the Junior High team. They agreed, so we had the Battle of the Ages. It was a close competition and the Junior High team won the contest by about 3 minutes.
Month: June 2025
Summer Reading/Story Time Has Begun
If you signed up for the Reading Challenge, please stop by the library and pick up your Reading Challenge sheet.
Story Time for ages 3 – 4 and 5 – 6 were held on Monday, June 2 and Wednesday June 4. On Monday, we read The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. The 3 and 4 year olds made crayons and the 5 – 6 year olds made a crayon box where they will add a crayon each time they come to Story Time. On Wednesday, June 4, Pete the Kitty and the Unicorn’s Missing Colors by Kimberly & James Dean was read to each group. We used the foil transfer method in our craft which means we scribbled on the foil with washable markers, sprayed it with water and then pressed a picture on it to transfer the color. The older group embelished their pictures with “puff paint”.
