Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest Winners

We had eleven entries in our Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The pumpkins were judged and the winners are:

Thank you to all the children and parents who participated in our first annual character pumpkin decorating contest. Also a big thank you to our judges who thought everyone did a fa-boo-lous job! Winners need to stop by the library to pick up their prize and pumpkins. We also encourage the public to stop by and see these creative characters in person!

Lego League Draws Another BIG Crowd

Lego League continues to be a spooktacular success!  Fifty one children attended the October 18th Lego League.  Their Halloween creations are on display at the library.   We would like to thank Kim Fangman and Shannon McClain for donating more legos to our collection.  In addition to the donations, more legos were purchased with a Thrivent grant.  We would also like to thank Sapp Brothers for donating the snack for the October Lego League.  If any Elgin businesses would be interested in donating snacks for upcoming Lego leagues please contact the library.

What do you get when you can’t have Lego League for a year? 50 eager kids, 2 very excited library directors and every nook and cranny of the library full!! Lego League was held on Monday, September 20. We had a full library and we loved it!! The kids spent their time just having fun building. Next Lego League will be Monday, October 18.

We are excited to announce Lego League will be starting in September.   It will be held the third Monday of each month with the first one being September 20 from 4:00 to 5:00.  Children in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to attend.  Hope to see you then!!

Summer Reading Challenge – Reading Safari

Our Summer Reading Challenge has ended. We had 16 kids complete our Reading Safari game board. Those completing the challenge are Ryleigh Young, Chase Young, Taysom Bottorf, Cayson Bottorf, Molly Thiessen, Sadie Thiessen, Adaleese Kinney, Elise Hoefer, Leo Spieker, Tenley Schindler, Taryn Schindler, Levi Scheer, Allie Scheer, Aubrie Starman, Cheyanne Koinzan, and Brooke Borer. We finished our Summer Reading Activity Time with a little competition. They spent time playing a variety of yard games.

Balloon Animal Adventures – Everyone is Welcome to Attend

Elgin Public Library will be hosting Balloon Animal Adventures on Friday, July 16, at 2:00 pm at the Elgin United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. Animal Adventures is offering balloon animals to purchase at the price of $2 each. If your child would like a balloon animal, they will need to be ordered and paid for at the library by July 12th.
