Community Room

Community Room Use and Guidelines:

As a part of its ongoing mission to provide resources to meet educational, cultural, and recreational needs of our community, the Hastings Memorial Library makes its meeting space available for use by community members. Day-to-day administration of the community room is the responsibility of the Library director and as delegated, library staff. The Director, guided by this policy as well as general Library and City policies, will decide questions arising over use of the facilities. The Library Board of Trusties will consider any unresolved questions. Failure to abide by the guidelines listed will result in the loss of privileges to use the facilities. A full copy of these guidelines and policies are available at the library upon request.

Library-sponsored events have first priority for use of the facilities. Advanced scheduling and approval by Hasting Memorial Library staff members is required. Application forms must be turned in and approved by the library, the booking confirmed, and all fees paid before the room can be used. Approval to use the community room is not transferable to another person or group. Reservations should be made at least two days in advance, but next day notice may be possible at the discretion of the library Director.

If your meeting is canceled, please contact the library as soon as possible so we can make the room available to others. Deposits will not be returned without 24-hour notice of cancellation. Future bookings will be canceled if an individual group fails to show a total of three times in a given calendar year.

Fees and Deposits:

Non-profit, social, civic, cultural, educational, and government organizations may use the facilities for free as long as programs are free and non-revenue generating. Voluntary gifts to the library are always welcome and appreciated. All individuals please stop into the library to find out the fees of the meeting room.
