Christmas Greetings from the Library!

Library Lore
By Cherie Anderson
Hooper Public Library Director

What is truly FREE anymore? Usually there is some kind of “catch” when you hear that something is “FREE”, but not with a library card.
No catch, no fees (unless you have overdue books of course), no obligation, no strings attached. FREE.
Any adult in the Logan View district is welcome and encouraged to sign up for a free library card at the Hooper Public Library. It is YOUR library, take advantage of what we have to offer and let us know what you may be interested in reading if we don’t have it.
Recent new arrivals for adults include: Book of Shadows by Alexandra Sokoloff, Eleventh Hour by Catherine Coulter, and River House by Sarahlee Lawrence, just to name a few. For the tweens and teens we have the Twilight series on audio books and The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman. For the younger ones just starting to read chapter books we have the new Disney Fairies, Secret Agent: Jack Stalwart and Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow series.
Those just learning to read independently will enjoy the Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa series and we have several new picture and toddler books available as well. Come and take look! We have a huge display of Christmas books and movies as well.
Our food and book drive is going pretty well but we could use more donations. Next time you stop at the City Meat Market just grab a few extra cans and drop them off at the Library! It’s always a good feeling to know you have paid it forward and helped those less fortunate than you. You also have an opportunity to purchase a new book for a child this Christmas. We have a small selection ranging in price from $1.49-$4.26. We will wrap the book and indicate what age level it will be good for, then Faith Food Pantry will distribute to needy families in our area along with the food donations. We will show our gratitude by forgiving any fines you may have if you contribute and/or you may choose a book from our used book selection.
Thank-you to all who have donated thus far, every can counts!
Parents please look for information coming home from school on some fun activities we will be doing over Christmas vacation. Call 654-3833 or email hooperlib@hotmail.com for details if the form doesn’t make it home!
