SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER AT HPL BOOK CLUB

The Bookenders book club at Hooper Public Library will have a special guest speaker at their next meeting. The book selection for the month of October is THE ORPHAN TRAIN by Christina Baker Kline. “Between 1854 and 1929, so-called orphan trains ran from the cities of the East Coast to the farmlands of the Midwest, carrying thousands of abandoned children whose fates would be determined by pure luck”. This book portrays the story of a woman who was sent by rail to an uncertain future.
Lorna VonSeggern from Scribner will be a Guest Speaker at our next book club meeting, sharing stories of her own mother who came to this area in the same way. The public is encouraged to attend this event at the Hooper Public Library Monday Oct. 20th at 6:30p.m.
