On Sat. Feb. 13th a Valentine Party was held at HPL. The children learned how they can borrow books on a computer, tablet or on a device such as a Kindle using Nebraska Overdrive. We read the book “Love Ruby Valentine” on the computer and compared it to the actual book as we read along. We made Valentines for the residents of Hooper Care Center and played in the puppet theater and played games like Musical Chairs and Bowling. The children had a great time and we finished off with book checkouts and a treat bag and Nebraska Overdrive information for everyone. If you would like more information on using Nebraska Overdrive stop in or give us a call. Links to our website, http://libraries.ne.gov/hooper, Nebraska Overdrive, and our card catalog can be found on our Facebook page.
Stop in to check out our selection of DVD movies to borrow or pick up something to read from our New Arrivals display. The kids might like some of our new Star Wars books and additions to the Jake Maddox series, as well as the “Big Book of Football” and 3 new joke books. Adults will find newer fiction titles such as “After She’s Gone” by Lisa Jackson, “The Bitter Season” by Tami Hoag and “Fates and Furies” by Lauren Groff, just to name a few. We also recently added non-fiction for adults such as “But Enough About Me”: a Memoir by Burt Reynolds, “Retire Inspired” by Chris Hogan and “A Thousand Naked Strangers: A Paramedic’s Wild Ride to the Edge and Back” by Kevin Hazzard.
HPL is a great place for kids to come for some quiet study time, computer games, puppet theater or just to kick back and read, color or do activity pages in our Children’s Corner. Children must be at least 8 years old to be in the library without being accompanied by an adult.
Join our adult book club The Bookenders and stop in for Coffee Corner every Friday morning. EVERYONE is welcome at Hooper Public Library.
