April is a busy time at the McCook City Library. Listed below are activities that will be going on. If you have any questions, please contact the Library at 345-1906.
April 6th– Thursday 4-5 pm (for ages 5-15) “CHALK A POEM”-Come listen to poems read by the TAB (Teen Advisory Board) and write one of your own with some help and then take it outside and write in on our sidewalks, including some artwork.
April 9th-15th– “NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK”-check out the contests and activities during this special week. Bring a friend and have them sign up for a library card and receive a prize.
April 19th–Wednesday 6:30-7:30 pm “POETRY READING” Come and enjoy the readings from our local poet Ginny Odenbach and a special guest and published poet, C.F. Kelly. Also joining in will be a few high school students reciting their poems. Refreshments will be served. A evening of enjoyment for all.
April 27th– Thursday 6:30-7:30 pm “1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN CELEBRATION” will be held with refreshments, a special reading from some very special friends. Announcements of reading goals and prizes to be handed out. Get your sheets turned in and come join us and your friends for an evening of fun……Watch for you invitation.

The stocking drawing has been held and the following will choose a stocking full of surprises and a book to enjoy over the holidays. Boy! The candy went fast. Congrats to the following who received a jack-o-lantern bag of candy: Dorothy Stevens, Truman Hancock, Izzy Clause, Natalie Dame, Isaac Snyder, Damien Peacock, Scott Milheiser, Mary Dueland, Ashlynn Latimer, John Hanson, Adyn Meyer, and Cliff Clapp. Winner of the Pumpkin full of candy was Quentin Terry.
Life, Go Fish, Cray Eights, Sorry, Jenga, Boggle, Checkers and more are just a few of the games that are played at Game Day. Come join us on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 pm starting Sept. 13. Once again Runza is helping us with providing funds for books for the children’s section. On TUESDAY, AUGUST 23rd Runza will be donating 10% of its sales toward books.
