Summer Reading Registration Ends, Friday, May 25

Registration for McCook City Library’s Summer Reading Program “Libraries Rock” will end Friday, May 25 at 5 pm.

Groups are: Kindergartner’s Unite (those going into kindergarten)

Tuesday 10-11:30 am   June 5-July 24

      1st and 2nd Graders

Tuesday 1:30-3:00 pm    June 5- July 24

   3rd and 4th Graders   

Thursdays 1:30-3:00 pm

   5th and 6th Graders

Wednesdays 1:30-3:00 pm

 

There will be no classes the week of July 4th. Must have library card to participate and current cards must be up to date and fine free.

Holiday Hours at the Library

Reminder: The McCook City Library will be closed Saturday, May 26 thru Monday, May28 in observance of Memorial Day.  On Tuesday, May 29 our summer hours will begin: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-7:00 pm

Saturday 8:30 am-5:00 pm

Sunday-Closed

Children’s Book Week Winners

Things Hopping at the Library in April

Don’t miss out on all the activities at the Library this month. We are celebrating National Poetry Month with composing a  poem for us to display and checking out poetry books to enjoy.

National Library Week is being celebrated this week with different activities for children and adults to participate in when they stop by to check out a book, dvd, magazine or audio book. We have a duck pond to grab a duck, book drawing sign up, coloring contest, free bags, pens and pencils and Wednesday and Thursday we will open up the fishing booth. Come join in the fun or just stop in to see what is new.

Easter Basket Winners

Drawings were held to win one of the Easter Baskets filled with books, eggs and the sweet stuff. Winners in the children’s age group were: Kevin Wolfe, Vivie Koebel, Tristan Keith, Xander Galarneau, Cole Davidson, Wamen witt, Canon Crawford, Isaac Weiser, Merea Smith, Captain Carbaugh, Aaron Frank, Makayla Pate, Paisley Marvier and Naomi Michaelis.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Celebration

Hope you preschoolers and some a little older readers have been reading and turned in your slips and are ready to celebrate your accomplishments for the year. We will enjoy some stories, treats and awards on Thursday, April 26th at 6:30 in the Library basement. Get your sheets turned in and watch for your invitation in the mail… Hope to see you there. APRIL IS POETRY MONTH AT THE LIBRARY

Come in and check out a poetry book to take home and enjoy. We have some on the adult side and children’s side for all to enjoy.  We invite you to come in to compose a poem for us. Tracy (Kennedy) has been cutting out words out of magazines for you to put together and write a poem for us on a piece of paper. Tracy has some examples on the bulletin board for you to see. Stop in and spend a few minutes and put together a poem for us.                                                HAPPY POETRY MONTH
