Silent Auction

I was the victim of the flu bug last week and was out of the library for four days, but Doris kept things running smooth for the library patrons.

Meadow Grove celebrated it’s Q125 a week ago and the library had a silent auction on Saturday of the celebration. Our patrons came through very well for us and we raised $800!

October 16th has been proclaimed Meadow Grove Day by the village board, since this was the actual date Meadow Grove became a village. The Booster Club will be having a soup dinner that day and then a historical walk will take place at 1:00 pm. All the businesses on Main Street will be open for the walk, including the library, so you will be able to stop at each locaction and learn the histories of these buildings and how they came to be the businesses they now are.

New items this month are the following DVDs: Arthur, Soul Surfer, The Lincoln Lawyer, Barbie and Marley the Puppy years.

Books by the following authors are also new to the library: Macomber, Mallory, Robb, Brown, Morgenstern, and Grisham!

School Days

It is hard to believe our summer is over and school started today. I think most of the kids was ready for their first day.

Our interns have finished their time with us this week. We are all going to miss them very much. They were very nice young ladies and worked very hard. I wish them well in the coming school year.

Last week was our first budget meeting with the Village Board. They are dealing with cuts too so it gets harder every year to determine “who do we cut this time?”

August 22 and 23 I will be attending workshops for the BTOP grant. I am excited about this because we will be getting more info on the ADA computer. Which, we shouldn’t have much longer to wait for our new computers and other equipment. We have our desks and chairs, so the computers are next.

Until next week!

Summer Activities

Last Wednesday was the last day of Summer Story Hour. The two interns did such a good job this year. Their activities were awesome and the kids loved the stories they read.

We are very fortunate to have had these interns this summer. Their time with us is just about up too. We have all enjoyed them very much.

Most of our new desks from the BTOP grant arrived last week. We are hoping this means our computers and equipement willing be following soon.

Keep cool and we will be “speaking” to you soon.

New Happenings at the Library

Lots have been happening in the library world these past few months! We are part of a large technology grant with the Nebraska Library Commission, which includes new computers, software, & hardware. Also new desks and chairs.

We received an intern grant this summer. The library now has two interns working with staff. The girls are Emily Rood and Crystal Nyman.

The library is getting some new outside improvements. These have been needed for so long. The Library Foundation is funding these.

Last but not least, the Library’s summer story hour is now occurring on Wednesday evenings in July. There is one session remaining-July 27th.
