If anyone got a notification in WordPress over the weekend that stated “WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not know your credentials, you should contact your web host”, you can disregard this message.
This message happened because a plugin I updated on Friday evening was not working properly. Over the weekend the plugin kept requesting permission to access the web server, which caused this error to pop up on everyone’s screens.
I deactivated the plugin this morning and the message should have disappeared. So you can disregard that message entirely. If you have any questions, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
