or &#8220;portlets&#8221; or &#8220;badges&#8221;).\u00a0 Let&#8217;s look at Tumblr as an example\u2014it&#8217;s one of the easiest to use.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tumblr.com\/buttons\">This<\/a> is Tumblr&#8217;s &#8220;Buttons&#8221; page.\u00a0 To generate your button, you simply pick what you want your button to do, then choose your placement and color.\u00a0 A string of code is generated, which you&#8217;ll need to highlight and copy.\u00a0 Now go back to your website&#8217;s Dashboard and click on Appearance \u2014&gt; Widgets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Widget1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1921\" src=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Widget1-300x296.jpg\" alt=\"Widget Menu\" width=\"300\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You&#8217;ll see a long list of options in alphabetical order, but for this widget, you&#8217;ll want to scroll down to <strong>Text<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Text-Widget.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1922\" src=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Text-Widget-300x253.jpg\" alt=\"Text Widget\" width=\"300\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Click on Text and you&#8217;ll see a list of areas where you can place your widget.\u00a0 Mostly, you&#8217;ll want to keep it in the Primary Widget Area.\u00a0 When you click on that, a new Text Widget area will open up on your right side.\u00a0 It looks like this:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Paste-Code.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1923\" src=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Paste-Code-300x236.jpg\" alt=\"Content Box\" width=\"300\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I paste the code that I copied earlier into the Content Box, then click Save at the bottom.\u00a0 The end result on my website looks like this:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Result.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1925\" src=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/files\/2015\/10\/Result.jpg\" alt=\"Result\" width=\"251\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a>I now have a Tumblr button on my site and my readers can share my page directly to their Tumblr sites.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not a one-step process, but it gets easier with some practice.\u00a0 Prior posts on this blog outline how to create widgets for <a href=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/2011\/11\/22\/linking-to-overdrive\/\">Overdrive<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/libraries.ne.gov\/projectblog\/2014\/08\/14\/linking-to-overdrive-kids\/\">Overdrive Kids<\/a>.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll cover Facebook, Twitter, &amp;
