Joyce Menzel has donated to the Rock County Public Library a copy of the book, Barns…The Fabric Of Our Past.  The book features 97 barns and their stories with all but twelve located in Rock County.  Joyce did the sketches for all the barns from pictures and then painted each barn.  A quilt celebrating the 20^th anniversary of the Sandhills Quilt Guild was created by the Guild depicting all the barns for their 2012 quilt show.

The Rock County Public Library Foundation, Inc. has purchased The End – A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket in memory of Cyril Fritz and I, Michael Bennett by James Patterson in memory of Hazel Gordon.  The book, Barrelhouse Boys, A Tale of Mirth, Romance and Murder, Lincoln NE 1894 by Joel Williamsen has been purchased in memory of Lyle Kops.  This fictional book weaves together an intriguing storyline with real Nebraska historical events.  Nebraska Life Magazine review states, “Full of unexpected twists…vivid detail and lively dialogue.  One inspired novel.”
