Library Staff Participated in Northeast Library System Conference October 4th, 2010

Schuyler Public Library staff attended the Northeast Library System Annual Conference in Norfolk, Nebraska on September 23, 2010.  Along with librarians from the Northeast corner of the state, library staff attended the following seminar sessions:  Balancing Life and Libraries in Support of Excellence, e-readers 101, Reaching Out to Your Spanish-Speaking Patrons, and Recipe for Library Success.

An annual meeting luncheon was also held and during that meeting Schuyler Public Library won The Companions Quartet, a series of Young Adult books donated by the Northeast Library System.  A collection of juvenile and young adult books, to be donated to the library, was also received by MeMe Smith, in thanks for being a reviewer for examination materials housed at the Wayne State College Library.

Schuyler Public Library staff also participated in a closing discussion targeting pertinent issues facing today’s public libraries.

Library staff will receive continuing education credits for attendance at this seminar which will be applied to those needed to meet certification criteria.
