Come in early to get the best selection. Hardbound copies sell for $1 – $3, paperbacks .50 cents – 1.50, audio cassette books $1.50. We are currently taking donations of good, clean used books and videos. If you would like to clean your closets we will take your of used books.

BRAN – Bike Riders Across Nebraska arrive in Shelby on Friday, June 8, 2012
600+ bike riders and support staff will arrive throughout the day on Friday, June 8th. Shelby will be there last overnight stay before finishing their ride in Yutan on Saturday. The library is planning a BBQ stand to raise money for the library. BBQ ribs, beans, chips and snacks will be available for purchase starting at 2 pm outside the library. Please come and welcome the BRAN riders and help support your community library.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
“DREAM BIG READ!” is the theme for this summer at the Shelby Community Library. The summer reading contest is open to preschool through young adult. Families are also invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program. Stop by the library to pick-up the time sheets and for more information.
All reading contest sheets are due into the library by 12 noon, Saturday, July 7, 2012. Everyone will receive their prize at the Dream Big Read! party on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Shelby Park under the large shelter. Prizes will be awarded to everyone entering the summer reading contest.

Speaking of libraries, this week is National Library Week and it’s a great time to check out what all your local library has to offer. This year’s theme is “You belong @ your library.” April is also School Library Month. We are having a drawing on Satruday, April 14 to win books and posters. We are also playing Library Triva every day. If you get the question right you win a treat!
STORY HOUR
The Shelby Community Library Story Hour will be Thursday. April 19, 2012 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We are planning to read two or three books, make a craft, play a game and have lots of fun. Children ages preschool through 2nd grade are invited to attend.
