Spalding Public Library Mission Statement:
The mission of the Spalding Public Library is to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing resources that enhance and contribute to individual knowledge, enlightenment, and enjoyment in the most efficient manner possible. We especially recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value of libraries. The library serves as a learning and activities center for all residents of the Spalding community.
Spalding Public Library Vision Statement:
The Spalding Public Library seeks to become and essential part of the life of Spalding community residents by promoting an enriched, informed and connected community, dedicated to providing practical access to all forms of media.
Spalding Public Library Goals:
- To facilitate learning and self-education for the community;
- To recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading an the value of libraries;
- To support the educational needs of elementary and secondary students through programs developed to stimulate children’s interests and appreciation for reading and learning;
- To provide materials and resources to help community residents obtain information meeting their personal, educational, cultural and professional needs;
Spalding Public Library History
Spalding Public Library was established in 1911. There is very little known about the history of the library. One story is that the library was located on the top floor of the city auditorium for many years. Spalding Public library is presently located on Main Street in the former bank building.
