November 3rd, 2016 Library Board Minutes

The Sutton Memorial Library Board met a 5:00 P.M. on November 3, 2016 for the November meeting in the library.  Vice President, Carol Henricksen, called the meeting to order and referred to the Open Meetings’s Act.  Present were:  Librarian, Shelly Reed, and Board members, Pam Overturf, Gertie Schmer, Harriet Maser, City Administrator, Jeff Hofaker, and Joyce Brown was absent.

The minutes of the precious meeting were read and approved.

The bills for the month of October were presented and approved.  The Balance on hand in the Sutton Library Memorial Account is $23,442.68, as of 10/30/2016.

Shelly presented the circulation report for the month of October, as follows:  AF-392, ANF-29, E-67, JF-59, JNF-21, Com-147.PER-13, AUB-0, DVD- 161. Total Circulation = 889, Visitors = 593.

Old Business: still waiting to hear for accreditation approval.  Discussion was held regarding organization of completing the Strategic Plan.  This will be reviewed and scheduling completed at the January, 2017 meeting.

Jeff reported that the front door had not been received yet.  Since this was not completed to coincide with budgeting for last fiscal year, Jeff will check on the status of this.

Also discussed available parking by the library for patrons of the library.

New Business:  The book fair will be held December 5-December 9 to coincide with the Parade of Lights, wherein the library will have open house from 5 -6P.M.Shirley Alberts will be asked to contact the Friends of the Library. Carol will purchase candy canes to be given to the children that evening.  Will need to borrow tables from the City to display books for the Book Fair.

A Christmas Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 5th @ the Legion for the Friends of the Library and the Library Board.  Carol will make reservations for this.

Pam sent a “Congratulations Card” to the Clay Center Library for their 100th birthday.

The Current hours for the Library:  1206 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday & Friday, 12-5 p.m. on Wednesday, 2-8 on Thursdays, and 9 a.m.-12p.m. on Saturday seems to be working well.  It was discussed & decided to order new magnets with these hours to be given to the patrons.

Our nest meeting will be December 1, 2016.  Without further business, Vice President Carol Henricksen closed the meeting a 5:30 p.m.
