Sutton Memorial Library Board met at 5:00 p.m. on May 4, 2017 for the May meeting in the library,. President Joyce Brown called the meeting to order and referred to the Open Meeting’s Act. Present were: Librarian, Shelly Reed and Board members Joyce Brown, Carol Henricksen, Gertie Schmer, Pam Overturf, and Harriet Maser. Jeff Hofaker was also present.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The bills for the month of April were presented and approved. The Balance on hand in the Memorial Fund as 4/30/2017 is $23, 743.85.
Shelly presented the circulation report for the month of April as follows AF – 261 + 125 OD = 386, ANF – 34, JF – 91, E – 74, JNF . 3, COM – 178, PER – 34, AUB – 5, DVD – 171. Total circulation = 976, Visitors = 635.
Old Business: Shelly also reported that the Start Up and Expanding Business was held on April 27th with 9 people attending. Jeff Hofaker presented a very informative program.
The Mom’s Coffee continues with 16 present the last time; they are enjoying this gathering.
New Business: The Study Table this fall has 8 people to help with the students. The following have committed: Keith Henricksen, Del & Pam Stahl, Mark Metcalf, Cal Stuhmer, Fred Matteson, Shelly, Reed, and Don Russell.
Brett Nunnenkamp & Neil Ely will present a program on May 22nd at 7 p.m. Both in FFA in high school came up with business plans and fulfilled them and continue to operate their businesses today. Pam Overturf will help and Friends will provide cookies.
The Summer Reading Program will be June 26-30 with 3 different sessions for: Preschool- Entering Kindergarten – 10a.m. t0 10:45 a.am.; Entering 1st Grade – 3rd Grade – 1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.; 2:30 – 3:3o p.m. for the 4th grade to 6th grade.
Prizes for coming every day of the week will include a choice of an insulated lunch box or a T-shirt.
There will also be a reading contest for those students who can read 500, 1,000, or 1,500 minutes before July 29th.
Friends of the Library will provide refreshments.
Our next meeting will be June 8, 2017 @ 5 p.m. Without further business, President Joyce Brown closed the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
