1. Mission Statement for Internet Use.
Internet access at Ulysses Township Library is an extension of the library’s commitment to meeting the community’s informational needs.
II. Acceptable Use.
Ulysses Township Library provides free computer access to the public during library hours. Wi-Fi is available at all times. The Patron must be 19 years of age or older. If the Patron is under the age of 19, a Parental Consent Form must be signed here in the Library by a parent or guardian.
The Ulysses Township Library does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. The Internet is a global entity with a highly diverse user population and Library patrons use it at their own risk. Not all sources on the Internet provide accurate, complete, or current information. You need to be a good consumer, questioning the validity of the information you find.
Internet resources accessible through the Library are provided equally to all library users. Parents or guardians, not the Library or it‘s staff, are responsible jar the Internet information selected and/or accessed by their children. Parents – and only parents – may restrict their children – and only their children – from access to Internet resources accessible through the Library.
The Internet workstation must be used in a responsible manner, respecting the rights of others, and taking care with use of the equipment. Computer and Internet settings may not be changed.
The workstation cannot be used for any fraudulent or unlawful purpose, including any activities prohibited under any applicable federal, Nebraska, or local law.
Please be aware the material on the Internet and the World Wide Web is copyrighted. It is your responsibility to be aware of the display notices concerning copyright of information on the Web and to respect the copyright laws of the United States.
The Ulysses Township Library is committed to providing an environment free from sexual harassment. Do not display on screens and/or printers materials which may be objectionable. Inappropriate use of the computers will result in loss of computer priveleges.
III. Staff Assistance.
The staff will be glad to assist the Patron in accessing the Internet and attempt to assist you in getting to the right place on the ‘superhighway’.
Library staff cannot provide in-depth training concerning Internet computer jargon or personal computer use. The staff may, however, be able to offer searching suggestions and answer questions.
If you wish to print anything out you must first get a staff members attention and have them help you. You may print in black and white, or color. Each printed item comes at a price so don’t waste paper or ink.
