FINE FREE FRIDAYS

Bring in overdue books/audio books on Fridays in February & March and fines will be forgiven! This applies only to books and audio books (no DVDs or other materials) and only to items that are brought into the library (not to items left in the book drop) during library hours on Fridays.

Charges for books that have had to be replaced still apply. Otherwise, fines on even long-overdue books will be removed from library records, so it’s a good time to clean those bookshelves!

AfterSchool Jan 31

This week we’ll be reading  a chapter from “Bud, Not Buddy” by Christopher Paul Curtis–Winner of the Newbery and Coretta Scott King awards– and doing an activity based on that. Kids with a Valley Public Library card will be able to check out a copy of the novel. Adults are welcome to do so too. Just ask at the front desk about the book club kit!

Tuesday AfterSchool is offered in partnership with Twin Rivers YMCA and is open to all area elementary school children (under age 8 with supervision). Beginning right after school, the afternoon includes a snack, homework time, programs/activities and unstructured time for reading and play. Formal programming ends before 6 p.m.

WEATHER CLOSING (Again)

Valley Public Library will be closed Tuesday, January 17, due to the ice storm.

Book club is cancelled. Rescheduled time to be announced soon.

Our AfterSchool program is also cancelled. Our “adventure” themed program will now be next week on Tuesday the 24th. We’ll be kicking it old school with a group Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story, along with the opportunity to play an Interactive Fiction game. Stay safe, friends!
