When: Now until October 14th, with one entry per visit per day

Why: To celebrate you and your part in the library for Teen Read Week

Young Adult Nonfiction Revamp

We have an almost entirely new Young Adult (or teen) Nonfiction section thanks to state funding of the project. Since the teen years mark the transition from childhood to adulthood, topics of special interest include: general health, mental health, dating, self-expression, religion, careers and higher education, and civic engagement. Where great differences exist in personal outlooks–such as politics and religion–we have tried to be representative of the diversity of teens and their families.

Come check these books out, whether you’re a teen or you’re looking to start a conversation with your teen.

This week we’ll be making t-shirt bags from old t-shirts. We have a limited number of t-shirts on hands. Kids are encouraged–with parental permission–to bring old t-shirts to turn into a bag.

Elephant and Piggie Early Reader Books

Today we went from two remaining Elephant and Piggie books to twenty-one books! This award-winning series is today’s smash hit for early readers who might also like Doctor Seuss and Curious George. It’s also one of the best series for teaching about coping with emotions and social situations.

This project was made possible by a donation from Valmont.

Tuesday After-School September 12th

This week we’ll be having a “Musical Masterpieces” activity, plus the usual variety of things to do.
