Hello June and Summer Reading! This summer’s musical theme of Libraries Rock has inspired all sorts of musical activities. Instead of three different posts, here’s what we have lined up as far as special programming this coming week at the library:
For Music Monday on June 4th, our young participants will explore playing with their voice, starting at 10:30. Each Music Monday, families can expect to make instruments, sing songs, and read a book.
Each Tuesday night, the library will be showing a different musical, starting at 5:30. This Tuesday, June 5th, a classic musical that the library owns will be shown. You can stop in the library to ask and find out which one it is.
Select Thursdays will hold dance “classes”. All ages are invited this Thursday, June 7th, at 6 p.m. to learn and have fun with typical party dances like the “Chicken Dance,” the “Hokey Pokey,” and the “Macarena.”
In addition, we have three different summer reading programs available now at the library, aimed at different age groups!
• K-3rd grade students have a “Libraries Rock” themed sheet where they can color a picture for each book they’ve read.
• 4th-8th grade students have a BINGO sheet with different reading-related tasks to complete, like “read under a tree.”
• 9th-12 grade students have a different BINGO sheet with types of books to read in the blanks.
Sheets must be turned in before July 26th to redeem for prizes and be entered into a drawing.
