Color with a Cop

Tuesday, April 24th, AfterSchool will have a visitor; a Valley police officer will be visiting! Coloring pages and blank paper will abound for creations.

Tuesday AfterSchool is offered in partnership with Twin Rivers YMCA and is open to all area elementary school children (under age 8 with supervision). Beginning right after school, the afternoon includes a snack, homework time, programs/activities and unstructured time for reading and play. Formal programming ends before 6 p.m.

Mo Willems for Third Saturday Story Time

The vote between Jon Klassen and Mo Willems on Facebook showed a slight preference for Mo Willems, so Mo Willems for Third Saturday Story Time it is! If you aren’t following us on Facebook already, please do so! You can participate in polls and discussions we have on there in the future.
Come April 21st at 10:30 for fun with Elephant and Piggie, Pigeon, and the book “That is Not a Good Idea!” As always, you can count on crafts, a yummy snack, and songs to accompany our books as well.

Cleaning Pennies

AfterSchool, on Tuesday, April 17th, will be exploring how to clean pennies. Will soap work? What happens with vinegar? Does it matter if we rinse them afterwards? Find out, this week, on another exciting episode of AfterSchool!

Breaking News

On Tuesday, March 20th, students will have the opportunity to create submissions for Ask magazine. Each month, Ask uses a spread of pages to display pictures and letters sent in by kids. This month, they are asking kids to send in submissions of news headlines and pictures. An example they give is “New Neighbors Moving In.” Entries can be sent from the Valley library, but interested kids will put their name, address, and age on the back. The magazine only reveals the first name, last initial, age, and home state of contestants chosen.
In addition, magnet toys have been borrowed from the Omaha Public Library, and the usual array of choices will also be available.

Third Saturday Story Time: Boxes!

This Saturday, March 17th, we will be having a box-themed story time. Come at 10:30 for fun reads and have your preschoolers explore the plethora of boxes we have at the library. While programming is aimed at preschoolers, the whole family is welcome to attend. Imagining, coloring, and crafting may be in store, as well as songs and a cookie snack!

Playaways and Games

On Tuesday, March 13th, students will have the opportunity to explore “Playaway Views” borrowed from the Omaha Public Library. If students have and can bring headphones, it would cut down on the noise, but they are not required. Besides our usual choices, I will also be leading games like “Heads Up, Seven Up,” and the “Cup Game.”
