SPRING WORK”

The inspiration for this painting is the memory of the rural community surrounding the Village of Wausa, Knox County in northeast Nebraska circa the late 1940’s or early 50’s. The three tractors depicted are a “styled” John Deere Model A, and International Harvester Farmall Model M, and an Allis Chalmers Model WC of which the one depicted would be of 1934 to 1937 vintage. These were the most common brands used in the Wausa area as these three companies had a dealership in Wausa. As the farmers made their rounds in the field preparing a seedbed they would approach the fence line at the same time and stop to visit. It is a cherished memory.
