WESTERN LIBRARY SYSTEM MEMBERSHIP RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, access to quality library service is vital to all Nebraskans; and WHEREAS, cooperation between and among all types of libraries can facilitate and promote the improvement of library programs and services; and WHEREAS, the sharing of material and human resources helps individual libraries meet the challenge of advancing technology, the escalating cost of resources, and the wide disparity of services and resources available to citizens for reasons of geographic isolation or socio-economic position;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT EACH LIBRARY

joins with other libraries in cooperative pursuit of the goals and objectives of the Western Library System.

IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT:

1. The Western Library System is subject to such rules and regulations  for systems as are established by the Nebraska Legislature and the Nebraska Library Commission;

  1. Each member library is encouraged to participate in planning and development of  services and to utilize any and all system programs and services;
  2. The policies and actions of the Board and staff of the Western Library System shall not replace each library’s responsibility to meet the needs of the local community;
  3. The library may withdraw from participation at any time upon completion of any outstanding mutual obligations.

 

Governing Documents

The Western Library System is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity whose organizational makeup is governed by several documents as required by both federal and state statues.  In addition, some of these documents are required by the Nebraska Library Commission in order to continue to receive funding.  The Governing Documents are currently available for review at the WLS Office; Railway Plaza Office 115 Railway St. C-114 Scottsbluff, NE. 69361   308-632-1350
