Summer Fun at Kilgore Memorial Library

Okay, it is time to admit that our website redesign has been derailed — again. We have so much content that we want to share but so little time to put it together.

We have finally forced ourselves to stop planning our Summer Fun activities and start promoting them. So, ta-da! We have added a page of information for you about the events and activities you can join in at the library during June. We had so much planned for Summer Reading Club in 2020 that we did not get to use that we have decided to use last year’s theme and all the great prizes, logos, and events that go along with Imagine Your Story.

If you have not already picked up our flyer packed with something happening every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and two Saturday’s in June plus a few bonus days in July, we have uploaded it for you onto our homepage. If you click on the flyer it will take you to the page with details about each of our events or activities.

As you would expect we have reading clubs for all ages. But what you might not expect is all the partners we have to make summer fun at Kilgore Memorial Library. We have fourth graders from the YES Boost program leading our Book Buddies storytime. We have Moguls Transmission & Towing providing wonderful t-shirts. We have a grant from the Nebraska Library Commission that provides funding for us to hire an intern and we have been lucky enough to have Elias Dallmann accept this position. Elias is putting together a fabulous Bike Rodeo for elementary age participants and he is recruiting a team of volunteers to help at that event. Four Corners Health Department is providing helmets for the Bike Rodeo and the York Police Department will have an officer (or two) on hand to offer safety tips for riding on the road. Our Friday Gaming time with Middle School age participants has been upgraded to eSports level with Coach Tucker from York College leading this event. Our partnership with the York Park’s and Recreation department on the StoryWalk along Beaver Creek Trail will include new stands for the posters! The Friends of Kilgore Memorial Library are providing the picnic lunch at our kick-off event on Saturday, June 5 and the treats at the Dance Party on July 3. The Friends are also funding many of the prizes for this summer as well. We have the Music Mogul, Conner Mogul for our DJ at our Dance Party.

We hope you and your family will find several activities to enjoy by checking out everything Mrs. B. and her team have put together for readers of all ages in York County.
