Welcome to Nebraska Overdrive

Have you been waiting to have free access to thousands of EBooks and audio books from many of your favorite authors? Now you can at the Arapahoe Public Library! We have become one of 134 libraries here in Nebraska, who with support from the Nebraska Library Commission, have partnered with Nebraska Overdrive.  This is an online site where patrons can download a wide array of EBooks or audio books to their home computer, E-reader or mobile device. This is a free service to any patron of our library. You have the option of checking out up to four items for 7, 14 or 21 days. Users may return EBooks early. At the end of the lending period, titles automatically expire and are returned to the collection. This means that you’ll never have to worry about late fees when using this service. Nebraska Overdrive can be accessed anywhere or anytime as long as you have internet access.

To check out EBooks or audiobooks, users need a valid library card and their patron number, their reading device, and an Internet connection.  Once downloaded, digital media can be enjoyed and transferred to popular devices such as MP3 players, iPods®, Smartphones, Nooks, Kindles and more. There are dozens of devices that are compatible with Nebraska Overdrive. No matter what your device, users will need to download free software in order to use this service.

This service is paid for by participating libraries, with financial support from the Nebraska Library Commission. “We are proud to support these libraries as they introduce a new, cutting-edge service to their communities,” said Shannon White, Network Services Director at the Library Commission. “This is a great example of libraries pooling resources to bring added value to their patrons.” The Arapahoe library has received generous donations to begin this step into the digital age of books. The eclectic collection includes thrillers, romance, science fiction, and more. Look for best-selling novels like “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert or James Patterson’s “7th Heaven”. Many notable authors are included in the collection such as Sue Grafton, Nora Roberts, and Meg Cabot. There is both fiction and non-fiction works available. Families with children can download children’s EBooks or audio books.
