\n\t\t\t\t\t\tButler Memorial Library, a donation from Senator Hugh Butler, Frank and Maudlee Butler was dedicated on November 9, 1950. The open house was held on February 22, 1951 and the next day, Mrs. Grace Newcomb, librarian, started checking out books. The first library board members were Ray McKinney, O.C. Shoemaker, R.E. Kind, Mable Correll and Zola Luther. The library operates with funds from the city and donations to offer materials and services that provide our community with opportunities to enhance lifelong learning.\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The library is overseen by a Library Board & Library Foundation Board. The boards are made up of the same five people, however their agendas are different. <\/p>

The library board manages the general operations of the library. <\/p>

The Library Foundation Board manages:<\/p>

\u2022 Purchasing Books, DVDs and magazines<\/p>

\u2022 Bake Sale\u2014raising money for a new project, item or activity. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
