Use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/index.htm\">this website<\/a> to discover more about these treasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National Humor Month<\/span><\/strong><br>Looking for ways to make patrons laugh? Try one of these <a href=\"https:\/\/ideas.demco.com\/blog\/8-activities-national-humor-month\/\">8 Activities to Celebrate National Humor Month<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National Poetry Month<\/span><\/strong><br>There are endless poems to discover and enjoy in the library. Highlight the 811 section and spend the month reading aloud favorite poems from diverse voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">School Library Month<\/span><\/strong><br><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/aasl\/advocacy\/slm\">School Library Month<\/a> is the American Association of School Librarians&#8217; celebration of school librarians and school libraries. Every April school librarians are encouraged to host activities to help their school and local community celebrate the essential role that strong school libraries play in transforming learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Sandra Boynton\u2019s Birthday (April 3, 1953)<\/span><\/strong><br>Sandra Keith Boynton is an American humorist, songwriter, director, music producer, children&#8217;s author and illustrator. Boynton has written and illustrated more than fifty books for both children and adults, as well as over four thousand greeting cards, and five music albums. She has also designed calendars, wallpaper, bedding, stationery, paper goods, clothing, jewelry, and plush toys for various companies. Display her books and board books on a table in the children\u2019s area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Maya Angelou\u2019s Birthday (April 4, 1928)<\/span><\/strong><br>Maya Angelou was an American poet, singer, memoirist, and civil rights activist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years. She received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees. Prepare a display of her books and a book mark or checklist for your patrons to use to discover her titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National Pet Day (April 11)<\/span><\/strong><br>Display books about pets and create <a href=\"http:\/\/kinderart.com\/art-lessons\/crafts\/pet-rock-necklace\/\">pet rock necklaces<\/a> using a few simple items and these directions from KinderArt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National Library Week (April 19-25, 2020)<\/span><\/strong><br>This year the ALA has selected the theme \u201c<strong>Find Your Place at the Library<\/strong>.\u201d Resources are available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/conferencesevents\/celebrationweeks\/natlibraryweek\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National Arbor Day (April 24)<\/span><\/strong><br>Can your patrons identify all of the trees around your library or neighborhood? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leaf-id.com\/\">Leaf-ID<\/a> is an excellent resource for identifying trees by their leaves. Display your books about trees and leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">World Penguin Day (April 25)<\/span><\/strong><br>Display books and DVDs about penguins.
