NEW HOURS JUNE 2: Tuesday & Thursday: 4:30 – 6:30 pm
Saturday: Noon – 6 pm
We will closed on July 4.
We wish everyone a fun and safe holiday!

It looks like everyone enjoyed Founder’s Day. Singing, great food, activities
for everyone and BEAUTIFUL cars (when cars still had their own style).
Farnam Clover’s 4-H is now meeting on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every
month. It’s still at the Farnam Public Library at 7:00 pm.
Come in and look through our collection of VHS and DVD movies. Star Trek,
westerns, Danielle Steel, Disney, Comedies, Action, Little Rascals,
Shirley Temple, National Geographic’s, and many more.
Remember to say “Thank you” to Farnams Firemen and EMTs for being there so quickly when we need them. They put so
much on the line for us.
If you would like anything listed in the News Letter, please let me know by

Chocolate-Caramel Crescent Sopapillas

Chocolate. Hazelnut. Caramel. Not sold yet? These crescent sopapillas are fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Go on, try to resist!

Ingredients
2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
2 tablespoons chocolate hazelnut spread
2 tablespoons dulce de leche caramel sauce
1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1 tablespoon powdered sugar

even browning. Drain on paper towels; sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Making Traditional British Scones is Easy

INGREDIENTS
• 2 ½ cups self-rising flour
• 2 oz. cold butter
• ½ level tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 oz. sugar (if you want your scones a little sweeter)
• ½ pint milk
• 1 egg beaten

5 Top Tips for Making the Perfect, Light Classic British Scones
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes
Tips:
1. When preparing the equipment and ingredients for making the scones, ensure they are all as cool as possible, including your hands. Butter should be very cold, but not frozen. Warm hands, ingredients, and equipment if too warm will melt the butter rather than it be rubbed in resulting in heavy scones.
2. Work quickly, and lightly. Avoid over rubbing or kneading the scone mixture. The mixture does not need to be super-smooth, it needs simply to be pulled together in a light, pliable dough.
3. When cutting the scones using a tart cutter, avoid twisting the cutter, then gently shake the scone onto the prepared tray.
4. When cutting with a knife, use a sharp knife. Blunt knifes or twisting the tart cutter tears at the edges of the scone and stunts the rise of the scone.
5. Cook near the top of the oven, even when using a fan. Scones like it best near the top.

Brownie in a Mug Recipe
 Prep time: 3 minutes
 Cook time: 2 minutes
 Yield: Makes one serving.
Some mugs don’t microwave well because there is metal in their ceramic glaze. They’ll
work but they may get very hot. Best to use a plain old everyday un-fancy mug.
Ingredients
 1/4 cup flour
 1/4 cup sugar
 2 Tbsp cocoa (natural, unsweetened)
 Pinch of salt
 Tiny pinch of cinnamon
 1/4 cup water
 2 Tbsp canola oil or vegetable oil (NOT extra virgin olive oil, it’s too strongly flavored)
 1 to 2 drops vanilla extract
 1 small scoop of ice cream or 1 or 2 teaspoons heavy whipping cream to serve
 you could also add a speck of instant coffee to take it up a notch
Method
1) Place flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and cinnamon in a microwave safe ceramic mug. Stir
with a fork or spoon to mix well and break up any clumps.
2) Add the oil, water, and vanilla to the cup and stir until the mixture is smooth and there
are no lumps.
3) Place in microwave and heat on high until the mixture is cooked through, about a 1 minute and 40 seconds for a 1000 watt microwave. You may have to experiment and adjust the time for less or more powerful microwaves. If you don’t know the power level on your microwave, start with 60 seconds and increase until the brownie is done. It should still be moist when cooked through, not dry.
4) Let cool for a minute and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a teaspoon or two of whipping cream poured over.

Original recipe makes 4 servings           PREP:   10 mins.             READY IN:   10 mins.

Ingredients:

1 mango, peeled, seeded and cut into chunks

1 banana, peeled and chopped

1 cup orange juice

1 cup vanilla non-fat yogurt

Directions:

  1. Place mango, banana, orange juice, and yogurt in a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve in clear glasses, and drink with a bendy straw!

Idea Choices:

  • Can use homemade vanilla ice cream instead of yogurt. A very tropical tasting and has a pretty, pastel peachy color. Frozen mango ensured this was good and cold!
