Don\u2019t\nlet that extended summer slide be detrimental come fall when school starts\nagain. Give your child the gift of knowledge!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All children are being asked, with their\nparent\u2019s help, to track minutes read or being read to using an app called\nReaderZone. Participants will need to contact the library for the code to join.\nIn order to successfully complete the program children will be required to\ncomplete a designated number of minutes read as well as five family activities.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will run from June 1 \u2013 July 31.\nChildren age 3 \u2013 entering kindergarten (family readers) will have a reading\ngoal of 600 minutes, which comes out to about 10 minutes per day, while\nchildren entering 1st grade &amp; up (independent readers) will have a reading\ngoal of 1000 minutes, which comes out to about 16 minutes per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Activity packets include a dragon egg craft &amp; scavenger hunt, fairy tale nutrition creation, family tree project and a Covid-19 time capsule. All activities leave a lot of room for interpretation and can be catered to any age. The library will try to provide you with any supplies you may need but don\u2019t have. Fairy tales, biographies &amp; more, oh my! Take some time this summer to explore the stories of others while adding to your own!
