Library Report for the March 2024 Village Board Meeting:

The coffee hour was held February 12th. We posted a photo of the group on Facebook and our website. The next coffee hour meet up will be March 11th.

Our Library Board met on February 15th. Six of the seven board members were able to attend.

The board did its yearly review of our policy statement and a copy is in the village files. They took home the technology report to review. We went over the statistical report summary that I shared with this board last month.

Summer plans were discussed. We will do a six week program with take-home activity kits and brag tag and pony bead necklaces to track attendance. Teens and adults will also have the opportunity to participate in a drawing for gift certificates from The Tattered Book by reading at least one book during those six weeks.

Potential grant and timeline information was shared. We are considering a Family History take-home kit with photo/document scanner, graphic novel and Newbery book collections, mental health take-home kits, and blood pressure machines to check out as potential grant projects.

The bulk of our meeting was spent discussing the re-accreditation process, which we can begin submitting in July. One requirement is that we have surveyed the community to determine what needs the community members are facing and plan ways in which our collection and programs can address those needs. We agreed on the content of a survey which we have begun to hand out to patrons and community members.

The board members watched a 3 hour webinar on their own time that fulfilled the board certification requirements.

Finally, the Cedar Valley Newspaper graciously came and took our print newspaper archives for the years that we have scanned and on-line. They will archive them in their office.
