Please consider being a sponsor providing funds to purchase “A NEW BOOK” each month to show your support for the Library. This is something new this year to be able to add more new books for our Adult Reading Section. Funds go to purchase one book a month, as selected by the current librarian, beginning October 1, 2011 and continuing for a one year term. The fee is $10.00 per month, payable $120 annually or $60 semi-annually. Inside of the book a name plate will be placed with your name or what you would like it to say.

The Shelby Community Library has several volunteer positions available. Time requirements vary with each task. Some opportunities that are available include helping with the Scholastic Book Fair, planning monthly story hours, checking out items and helping in busy times of the day, being in charge of Friends of the Library Group. The Shelby Community Library will begin its six-week summertime programs June 7, 2011. The weekly matinee movies will begin at 1 p.m. Take a look at the EVENTS tab to see the calendar on this website to find out what is playing.
Story Hours will run on Thursday’s starting at 1 p.m. on June 9th. This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories.” Participants will learn about different countries in the world through Reading and activities.

Sale of used books at the Shelby Community Library continues. Come early to get the best selection. Hardbound copies sell for $2.00, paperbacks and for $.75 cents. We are currently taking donations of good, clean used books and videos. If you would like to clean your closets we will take your donations of used books till the Polk County Fair Starts July 27th.
