Library Book Club To Meet Monday, January 2nd, 2017

We will be discussing the New York Times Bestseller book, “Once Upon A Town: The Miracle Of The North Platte Canteen” by author Bob Greene. While a columnist for the Chicago Tribune, Bob Greene stumbled onto story about the razing of the railroad depot in North Platte, Nebraska. It led him on a fact-finding trip to this small town, and then on to many interviews with people who had lived there during World War II, and also men who had traveled through on the troop trains. He wound up writing an entire book about the phenomenon of the North Platte Canteen. Join us at the library, for a lively discussion about this book on Monday, January 2nd   at 5:00p.m. All are welcome!!

Library News!

Bestselling author Janet Evanovich’s latest book in her Stephanie Plum series “Turbo Twenty-Three”has been recently added to the library’s adult fiction collection.” In this newest adventure, Stephanie is up to her usual avoidance of commitment with Joe (and he’s not pushing it!), her confusion with Ranger (and he’s not helping!) and, then, of course, there’s Lula, who is a whole subset of craziness all on her own. The mystery is frozen in bafflement and something I bet you’ve never read or seen anywhere else. Throw in a little Grandma Mazur nuttiness and you have another winner. And it all revolves around ice cream. How can you go wrong?

Did You Know?

A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book. (quote by E.B. White)
