How the library is arranged:

The main floor of the library is home to adult and young adult books and movies.  The main floor is divided into sections to assist patrons in finding just what they are looking for.  A separate room is home to our young adult collection, which is referenced as YA.  Here you will find Young Adult (YA) fiction, non-fiction, biographies, poetry, books in a series and more.  Also on the main floor, you will find adult fiction, non-fiction, romance, western, Nebraska collections, Large print, movies, poetry, heritage and more.

The kids book mine in located underground in the basement.  Here you will find book and movie treasures for toddlers, preschoolers and elementary children.  The books are divided into board books (for the youngest adventure seekers), fiction, non-fiction, chapter books and leveled readers 1-4.  Fiction books are on the shelf in alphabetical order according to the author’s last name.  Non-fiction books are arranged by call number based on topic.  Kids under 5 are welcome to explore the book mine with an adult or responsible sibling.  Grab a book and find a cozy spot to dig into your reading adventure.

Look for the section marked “Panning for Gold”, which is located on the main floor.  Here you will find hidden treasures that have been deleted from our inventory so we can make room for new titles.  All the books and materials in this section are available for anyone to add to their home collection.  Books in this section are free to ALL.  If you would like to support your local Valparaiso Nebraska Library, free will donations will be accepted.
