SIGN UP TIME FOR SUMMER READING PROGRAMS

The Ainsworth Public Library will be offering Summer Programs for children of all ages this summer.  The theme will be “Dig into Reading” and feature topics like ants, worms, gardening, heavy equipment, and dinosaurs.

Toddlers, preschool children, and kindergarten to fourth grade students will be able to sign up for the program from May 13 to May 18th during regular library hours.  If you are in grade school, please note that we go by the grade just completed in the school year of 2012-2013. You must sign up in person to get your Reading Time Slips if in the K-4th grade groups.

Toddle Time will be held for young children that are two and three years of age.  We do ask that an adult stays with the child during this half hour program that will be held on Tuesdays in June from 4:30 – 5 p.m.

The Preschool Summer Story Time is for the children age four and five (that have not been to kindergarten yet).  This Story Time will be held on Tuesdays in June from 1-2 p.m.  There is no need for an adult to stay with the child unless you wish to.

The kindergarten to fourth grade students will be part of a reading program where they keep track of the time they spent reading from June 2nd to June 29th.  The Reading Time Slips will be due by 6 p.m. on July 1st.  We will hold an ending picnic with this group on July 3rd from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Please bring a sack lunch.  Certificates and prizes will be handed out at this time.  If you can’t attend, the items will be saved for you.  Please note that Fun-Hours will be held on Thursdays in June for the grade school children.  Kindergarten & first graders will come from 1-2 p.m. and the second to fourth graders will come from 3-4 p.m.

The library plans to do the Lunch Bunch for the Middle School students again this year if we have interest in the program.  Students all read the same title and then gather for lunch to share their thoughts on the book.  The titles selected for the book discussions include “Aliens on Vacation” by Clete Barett Smith on June 12th and “Last Newspaper Boy in America” by Sue Corbett on July 10th.   The Sign-Up period for this group will also be from May 13-18th at the Ainsworth Public Library.  The first title will be handed out when you sign up.

Lots of events are planned so please make sure to get signed up for all the fun!
