The featured title for the Book Club in April will be the title “Zoo Nebraska” by Carson Vaughan. The Library has several extra copies available for readers to enjoy. Just stop by the Library.
Royal, Nebraska had for nearly twenty years, a zoo that rose from local peculiarity to a key tourist attraction to a devastating tragedy. Reuben the Chimpanzee was the featured draw to the zoo. Johnny Carson even donated money to build a Primate Center. This is a true story of small-town politics and community perseverance and a of decent people and questionable choices which lead to a tragic end of a dream.
The group will gather on April 19th at 2 p.m. to share thoughts on the book. I know that many of us had visited this zoo in the past and have great memories of the experience. Should be a great read!
