Our Makerspace is NOW OPEN to the Public!

We are so excited to announce that our Makerspace is NOW open to the public!
Our machines include:
3-D Printer
Vinyl Cutter
Heat Press & Mug Press
Laser Cutter
Sublimation Printer
Button Makers
All patrons must be trained on the machines in order to use them. Trainings will range from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the machine and skill level. Kids under 14 must have an adult with them for trainings and use of any machine.
Use of the makerspace is currently by appointment only, mostly on Wednesday-Friday. Please call the library at 308-946-2512 and talk to Jamie for more information or to schedule your appointment.
There is no charge for use of the equipment, however, there is a charge for our consumables.
We are so happy to “finally” be able to open the makerspace for public use. Come create with us!

CCPL Approved as a FamilySearch Affiliate Library!

Have you ever wanted to research and explore your family’s history?
We’re excited to announce, that CCPL has just been approved as a FamilySearch Affiliate Library! 😮🌟

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
The extension of this service to our library adds access to approximately 25 percent of the 1.5+ million rolls of microfilm already converted to FamilySearch’s digital images. This access, together with existing FamilySearch microfilm collections, enables affiliate libraries to be valuable providers of FamilySearch content.

HOW IT WORKS:
FamilySearch Affiliate Library is available for in-library use only.
You can use any of our public computers OR bring your own device and connect it to our free WiFi.
Each user of FamilySearch will need to sign into FamilySearch with their own username/password to view the records from FamilySearch. There is not an institution or library account.

There are three levels of family search:
• The first level of accessibility of records through the FamilySearch website can be viewed by anyone that has an account with FamilySearch.
• ✨The second level of accessibility to records in FamilySearch are those restricted records ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE AFFILIATED LIBRARIES and the family history centers.✨
• The third and most restricted records are only available in the Church owned family history centers or the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.

FamilySearch is available alongside CCPL’s existing subscription access to another popular and valuable resource: Ancestry Library Edition.
Each of these useful tools provide our patrons with: FREE and VERY INFORMATIVE services, to help you along your family-search journey Both of these services are available for in-library use only.

The Merrick County Historical Museum is currently featuring a special exhibit at our library:

“Herstory: We All Have a Story to Tell.” These are the stories of ten remarkable Merrick County Women.

Do you know how the Ormsby Road in Merrick County got its name? Read about the Ormsby family and their daughter Louise. Louise was a gifted soprano soloist. She toured with John Phillip Sousa! Find out how Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital got its name! Read about Marguerite Smith Roberts. In 1969 Marguerite wrote the screenplay for “True Grit” (the screenplay which earned John Wayne his only Oscar).

We invite you to stop in and see this wonderful exhibit while it’s here!

Digitize old slides and negatives at home, using our NEW Kodak Scanza!
Use the device to scan and save 35mm, 126, 110, Super 8, and 8mm negatives and slides.
It has a simple horizontal slot for loading and allows for manual color and brightness adjustment during the scan process.
The film scans to an SD card (not included).
